Event has already taken place

Come and enjoy the full sound of the symphony orchestra at a pop up-concert in Vasakyrkan, at the heart of the city. This evening, the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra will treat you to sparkling melodies in collaboration with Göteborgs Stadsmission and Vasakyrkan – and everyone is welcome. The music by Felix Mendelssohn is joyful and radiant, infused with the spirit of an Italian summer.

At the age of 22, Mendelssohn was on tour when he composed the symphony, writing to his sister Fanny: “This is Italy! What I have looked forward to all my life as the greatest joy has now begun, and I am basking in it!”

We will also hear the brass section of the orchestra in a separate piece. The orchestra is conducted by Norwegian maestro Ingar Bergby.
