This folk music supergroup from Uppland was formed in 1989. The intuitive simplicity in the interaction between the keyed fiddle, the viola, and the guitar continues to surprise when Väsen celebrates its 30^th birthday.

The Swedish group’s origins are rooted in the forests and the fertile land of the countryside. Uppland’s folk music traditions are preserved, but the soundscape is modern: rock, jazz and classical influences are naturally woven into the music. The result is playful, light and beautiful.

The trio tickle you with their stage presence, and they might offer up an improvised version of the Ten Million Polska, Rubbish Land Schottis, or Little Culture Grant Waltz. Either way, whatever is played live, Väsen’s 30-year-old treasure trove of songs is brilliant. This year, they’ll perform concerts in the US, Japan and Europe. The World in the Concert Hall also wants to join the celebrations, of course.
