It is ok to bring smaller bags with a maximum size of 21 cm x 30 cm x 10 cm (length x width x depth). The maximum size applies to all types of bags, pouches and purses.
Larger bags are not allowed and we do not offer storage of larger bags in our wardrobes or lockers. Diaper bags are excluded.
You can leave outerwear in our foyer, there are unmanned free cloakrooms and usually also manned cloakrooms (cost SEK 25).

It is up to each event organizer to make an assessment of how they think the Police bag ban should be handled. Of course, it is a big challenge both for all visitors and us organizers, and we have the greatest understanding that other businesses make different assessments.
In Gothenburg Concert Hall, all kinds of music lovers gather and concerts are arranged both by the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and other actors. We have agreed to have the same rules for all events and allow smaller bags with a maximum size of 21 cm x 30 cm x 10 cm (length x width x depth). Larger bags are not allowed and we also do not offer storage of larger bags in our wardrobes or lockers.
The concert visit
No formal attire is necessary. However, keep in mind that there are visitors who may be sensitive to strong odors. Feel free to refrain from strong perfumes and hair sprays with regard to allergy sufferers or odor hypersensitivity.
We recommend that you arrive at the Concert Hall at least 15 minutes before the concert starts. Then you will have plenty of time to hang your outerwear in the closet and find your seat. If you are going to pick up tickets from the ticket office, or are planning a visit to one of our bars, we recommend that you arrive at least 30 minutes before the concert.
Classical concerts in the Great Hall
At a concert with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra in the Great Hall, you are welcome two hours before the start of the concert, and to visit our foyer. If you have booked a table in our restaurant, we welcome you 2.5 hours before the concert starts so that you have time to enjoy the meal in peace and quiet.
Family concert in the Great Hall
At a family concert in the Great Hall, you are welcome one hour before the concert starts.

Concert in Stenhammarsalen
Welcome one hour before the concert starts.
About ten minutes before the concert starts, we call for the first time. The second ringing indicates that there are about five minutes left and the third that three minutes remain. After the third ring, the doors to the salon close and the concert begins.

In the Great Hall’s wardrobe hall, you will find the toilets on both sides of the large marble staircase, as well as in the Götaplats foyer. Adapted toilets for wheelchair users can be found directly to the right in the wardrobe hall and in the Götaplats foyer. In the foyer of Stenhammarsalen, you will find the toilets on both sides of the entrance to the concert hall. There is also an adapted toilet for wheelchair users.
In the toilets, there are menstrual boxes containing pads and tampons. The boxes are produced by Herbox, a company with local production in Gothenburg with a strong focus on sustainability, with a stylish design. The menstrual pads and tampons are made of 100% organic cotton, which means that they are completely free from both chemicals, perfume and bleaching agents. Being able to offer our visitors and employees access to menstrual protection is part of our equality work.
When a concert starts, the doors close and those who arrive late are not let in until a suitable break in the concert occurs. In some cases, it may only be possible during a break. This is done to show consideration for our artists, musicians and our audience. Our audience hosts are on site before, during and after the concert to help you get it right. Do not hesitate to ask if you need help with anything.

Events in the Great Hall
The doors to the Concert Hall open 2 hours before the start of the concert. Welcome to our beautiful foyer and bars, which are always open in connection with events in the Great Hall. Do you have a reservation in the restaurant? Welcome to begin your seating 2.5 hours before the start of the concert. See your ticket or our concert program for the start time of the event.

A warm welcome to Gothenburg’s Concert Hall!
It is not permitted to film or to take photos during an ongoing concert. However, you are welcome to take photos or film before the concert and during the applause.
We welcome everyone to a relaxing mobile-free zone, where the music can take its place and the outside world wait for a while. So don’t forget to turn off your cell phone or put your phone on airplane mode during the concert. Keep in mind that it is not only a call that can be disturbing to others in the audience, but also a bright screen that steals attention from the concert experience.
At classical concerts, many concertgoers only applaud at the end of a complete work, even though the piece has several movements. This means that there may be quiet moments when the music has stopped, but no one applauds. In the concert program on each concert page, you will find all the works that will be played during the concert and its length. Here you will also find work comments, as well as biographies of the participants. If you are unsure, you can also wait for the rest of the audience to clap before you applaud. But remember, in the end, it’s just applause and nothing to worry about.
Our concert halls are acoustically designed and give you a wonderful art experience no matter where you choose to sit in the hall. The location of your seating is therefore entirely up to you. Many of our concertgoers prefer “their” specific places in the concert hall. It can be in the middle, while others like to be higher up in one of the lodges or on the balcony to be able to see the whole orchestra better. It can also depend on the repertoire performed at the concert. For example, if there is a piano soloist, some listeners prefer to have a place where they can see the soloist.
Under the concert category “Beginners classical music” we have collected our recommendations for you who are curious about classical music. If you would rather botanize among our entire concert offer, you can easily do so in the concert program. Many make their selection based on composer, soloist, repertoire or the date and time of the performance.

In the case of events arranged by external organizers, each organizer decides on the age limit that applies to their arrangement. You will find information about it under the information about the each concert in the concert calender.
For the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra’s own arrangements, we recommend that visitors should be over 13 years of age (except for children’s and family concerts where the content is adapted for young people). We follow Folkhälsomyndigheten’s recommendations and the Miljöförvaltningen’s guidelines, but for a child the sound volume can be perceived as loud and not all young people appreciate having to sit still and enjoy an entire concert.
But you know your company best: We of course also welcome young music lovers who are accompanied by an adult, get help with taking other visitors into account and maybe sneak out if necessary. However, each person needs their own seat and their own ticket. Babies are most welcome at our baby concerts, but out of consideration for both the really little ones and the rest of the audience, they cannot come along to other concerts – even if they are sitting on an adult’s lap.

Subscriptions
You will be refunded the part of the subscription amount that pertains to the canceled concert or concerts. If you have bought your subscription with a card online, the refund will be made to the same card you used at the time of purchase. If, on the other hand, you have paid for your subscription by bank transfer, the refund will be made in the form of a credit receipt. The credit receipt will be sent to the e-mail address you provided when purchasing. You can use the credit receipt as a means of payment in Gothenburg Concert Hall and for purchases here on the website. It is also possible to redeem the credit receipt for money – this must, however, be done on site at the ticket office during regular opening hours.
If you as an orchestra subscriber are prevented and cannot attend any of your subscription concerts, you have the opportunity to change your concert free of charge (Applies to Large, Silver, Gold subscribers) or for only SEK 50 / ticket (Applies to Small and Intermediate subscribers). The change must be made no later than 3 days before the concert takes place. It is also possible to gift your concert to a family member or friend.

For the subscriptions for the season 2021-2022, temporary purchase conditions apply, which means that you can cancel your subscription until the week before the first concert in the subscription and get the entire amount refunded.
In normal cases, you have the opportunity to instead rebook a concert that you do not have the opportunity to go to. It is also possible to share a subscription or transfer subscription concerts to family members and friends.
On 21 December 2021, the Government informed about the stricter restrictions that apply from 23 December 2021. The stricter restrictions mean that we can only welcome 500 people to the concerts in the Great Hall in January.
Since there are no fair ways to select the people who will be allowed to keep their seats or take a seat first in the salon, and we must also let each individual decide if he or she feels safe visiting us, we will redeem all tickets to the concerts where we sold more than 500 tickets.
Instead, we offer you to buy a ticket again for the concerts with a reduced salon. As always subscribers have 24-hour booking priority for via the web profile starting on Friday 7 January 11.00. (Regular ticket release Saturday 8 January 11.00)
We are so sorry that this affects you and we do everything we can to get back to a normal situation as quickly as possible where we can all look forward to a safe experience together in the Concert Hall.
The ticket office will contact you who are affected by this change and the money for the redeemed tickets will be refunded on an ongoing basis, but not later than 18 February.

GSOplay
No, it’s not the same login information for the web profile and the GSOplay app.
You can screen the website or app content to your smart TV, Chromecast or AppleTV. Remember that the screen you share to the TV should be logged in on the same WiFi as your smart TV, Chromecast or AppleTV.
In later versions of AppleTV the GSOplay app is avalable in AppStore. Live streamed concerts cannot unfortunately be displayed in the AppleTV app due to restrictions made by our live media player. Instead you can watch the live streamed concerts via your AppleTV by screen sharing your phone with your TV (see above). Note that in order to to log in to the AppleTV GSOplay app, you must first download the GSOplay app to your mobile and register for an account. Use the same user name and password as you have in the mobile app when you log on to the AppleTV GSOplay app.
To see our entire range of live concerts, pre-recorded concerts, interviews and other background material, you need to be logged in. In addition, in logged-in mode, you can save your favorite clips to experience them over and over again. We would also like to recommend subscribing to GSOplay’s newsletter to easily keep track of our concert news and receive a reminder before a live broadcast.
No, you do not need the GSOplay app to take part in our range of digital concerts. However, there are different benefits to the features that different devices offer.
By downloading our app, you have our digital range close at hand. Here you can easily keep track of live broadcasts by turning on our push notifications and watching our concerts in offline mode. In a logged-in mode, you can mark concerts both in our app and on the website, to take part in the offer at a later time. By watching a live concert on a computer, you have the opportunity to share the chat that is available during the live broadcast. Here you can chat and ask questions to current experts and other enthusiasts around the world.

We have updated the GSOplay app so all users have the same access to our content, which means that everyone can enjoy the premium features such as downloading concerts. If you have subscribed to Premium recently and want to cancel your subscription, open your Play Store app and cancel your GSO subscription there, or go to this link to cancel your subscription. Anyone who has purchased a subscription in Google Play in 2021 will be refunded.

To participate in the chat during the live broadcasts, you need to watch the concert on your computer. Here you can chat with one of our experts or with other enthusiasts around the world. The chat starts about ten minutes before the broadcast starts. Note that you need to be logged in to be able to participate. Unfortunately, the chat is not available in the mobile, tablet or app.
The concerts are mostly available for 30 days from the date of publication. At several concerts, the availability time is stated on the concert page.
Update the content of the app by dragging the screen down. If that doesn’t help, try one of the following:
– Close the app and open it again.
– Sign out and log back into the app.
– Delete the app and install it again.

Purchase terms & refunds
If you have paid by card online, the refund is made to the same card you used for the purchase. Please note that sometimes it may take a couple of days from the time we make the buyback until the funds are available in your account. We regret this, but it is beyond our control.
If you have paid with a gift card, bank transfer or directly at the ticket office, we will contact you to the email address you entered when you purchased your ticket. If you can’t find the email, it might be good to check for the email in your spam folder.
Yes, the money is refunded by our ticket office. When the concert is canceled, you will receive an email confirming that the concert has been canceled.
If you have paid for your ticket or concert subscription with a card online, the refund will be made to the same card that you used at the time of purchase.
