Since moving to Sweden, Simone Moreno has released three acclaimed albums. Her EP Natal Tropical was released in 2024, crowing her 30 years as a solo artist. Prior to that was the album På Svenska (“In Swedish”), in which she interprets Kent, Imperiet, Evert Taube, Peps Persson and Bo Kaspers Orkester with her own touch of Brazilian style. Be prepared for an evening of sizzling samba and funk, where anything can happen.
Simone Moreno’s solo career began in Brazil in 1994 at age 17, when she released her first album of music by greats like Caymmi and Gilberto Gil. After three more albums and world tours, Simone moved to Sweden in 2001. A few years later she was in the song contest Melodifestivalen, and she has also appeared on stage in celebration of Polar Music Prize-winners Paul Simon and Gilberto Gil. Her major Swedish breakthrough was in 2006, with the radio hit Vem Pra Bahia (Vi Drar till Malmö), made with Timbuktu.
