With soft melodies and technical challenges, this Violin Concerto by Max Bruch is beloved, and it is performed tonight by Nikolaj Znaider. We also hear Elgar’s infinitely beautiful Enigma Variations with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra in all its splendour.
Beyond Words with Kuusisto and Barruk
A concert about the power of language with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and Sámi singer Katarina Barruk, whose incredible stage presence combines folk tunes and pop in symphonic dress. Pekka Kuusisto leads the orchestra in Sibelius’ versatile Symphony No. 5.

Italian pianist Francesca Tandoi heads up her own trio and has the entire world at her feet. Join us for an evening of memorable jazz songs in thought-provoking arrangements.
Italian Emotions with the Gothenburg Opera
Warm winds and young love are on the programme as the Göteborg Opera Orchestra and choir takes the stage. Listen to Rome’s majestic fountains and enjoy the fateful drama La Gioconda with emerging Swedish star Åsa Jäger in the leading role.
Bruckner & Mozart with Jacquot
Mozart’s popular Piano Concerto No. 24, led by Marie Jacquot with Markus Schirmer at the piano. After the interval, the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra also presents Bruckner’s Symphony No. 6, which contains an entire lifetime of emotions.
Dvorák Cello Concerto
Conductor Marta Gardolińska presents a rare French gem: Mel Bonis’ orchestral tribute to three legendary women. In addition, we hear Dvorák’s beloved Cello Concerto, with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra’s Claes Gunnarsson as soloist.
Soulful strings
Musicians from the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra serve a four-course meal of strings on a silver platter. We hear Strauss’ final opera, a string quartet by Nancy Dalberg and enthusiastic dialogues for viola and violin composed by Clarke and Mozart.
Classical AW with Bach
Join Gothenburg’s most classic after work! Hear music by J.S. Bach and Britten in a breathtaking performance by tenor Andrew Staples, the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra and choir. The evening continues in the foyer bars after the concert.
Ravel Bolero
With its hypnotic power, Ravel’s Bolero is endlessly fascinating. This famous orchestral work grows by the minute, blossoming at last to the fullest in a magnificent climax. François Leleux conducts the orchestra and is the soloist in Haydn’s mysterious Oboe Concerto.
Goran Kajfeš Subtropic Arkestra
Enter a subtropical landscape with influences from across the globe. With a blend of post-rock and cosmic jazz, trumpet player Goran Kajfeš is a unique feature of the Swedish music scene.
Salonen Sinfonia Concertante
Esa-Pekka Salonen is back with the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra as conductor and composer! In his Concerto for Organ and Orchestra, he uses every imaginable register – true to his multifaceted artistry. We also hear the dazzling Poème de l’Extase by Scriabin.
Brazilian swing with Simone Moreno
Singer Simone Moreno presents funky swing with her nine-man band. Dive in to this beautiful combination of Afro-Brazilian pop, reggae, soul, samba and Nordic influences.
Anna Lapwood: Music of the Stars
Sit back and enjoy a journey through the stars with music from Interstellar and Star Wars. Acclaimed organist and music profile Anna Lapwood makes her debut in Gothenburg with an imaginative organ programme from the world of film. Show piece of the night is a fresh suite from Lord of the Rings
Spring Delight with Gershwin
When spring is at its loveliest, the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra presents Gershwin’s sensational Piano Concerto with pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet. We also hear the world premiere of Broström’s new symphony. This magical evening is led by Santtu-Matias Rouvali!
Music for a summer evening
Ensemble Caplet consists of harp, flute and strings. Together with singers from the Gothenburg Symphony Vocal Ensemble, they fill the summer evening with achingly beautiful notes of love and the season.
