Magic when Rouvali conducts Sibelius´ fifth symphony

The song of the swans and their flight in the blue sky left an indelible impression on Sibelius. So strong that it became one of the unforgettable themes of the colourful fifth symphony.

Sibelius’ fifth symphony is one of his most popular – music inspired by nature and combining, in Sibelius’ unique fashion, joy of life with wonder. The composer writes in his diary: “Took a walk in the cold spring sun. Have had an intense impression of Symphony No 5. The new one! Saw today at 10.50 AM sixteen swans. One of the strongest impressions in my life!”
