Point Talk: Defiant, energetic, heartfelt

Lecture on Beethoven - the master of ambiguous emotions, with expert Åke Holmquist.

From his deep source of knowledge Åke Holmquist shares reflections on Beethoven’s second symphony and the Emperor concert of the “defiant” Beethoven, to quote Goethe

Åke Holmquist has been named Sweden’s leading Beethoven expert and the biography of around 1000 pages he has written about the composer justifies this. For over half a century, Åke Holmquist has been dealing with the man and composer Beethoven, ever since he, as a teenager, won SVT’s popular competition “The ten thousand kronor question” on the subject of Beethoven.

The lecture is held in German (we have a large German guest audience) with subtitles in in Swedish. Åke Holmquist has been CEO and artistic director of Kungliga Filharmonikerna in Stockholm and secretary of the Swedish Royal Academy of Music.

Free admission to the lecture for all ticket-holders of Point Music Festival 15-18 may. Priority seating for those with tickets to the friday concert in the Grand hall.
